This is another issue of Zaginflatch - a newsletter of a small anarchist group from Zagreb. Zaginflatch publishes on a non regular basis and is meant to be an infosheet on the events in this part of the globe. Zagreb anarchist movement also publishes some other publications. Those are Ne}emo i nedamo (a newsletter similar to Zaginflatch) and Comunitas (bimonthly magazine). Besides above mentioned publishing projects we have another one going on and that is to publish a translation of C.HarperÆs ôAnarchy - graphic guide.ö Then, there are actions we write about, and we shouldnÆt forget our infoshop which reopened in Autonomous culture factory. If you are in a position please send us material to spread or single copies for our reading archive. Any language is fine. Meeting of ex-yu anarchists Most of the subscribers to the ex-yu-a-lista mailing list knows that last summer we had organised a smaller meeting of anarchists from former Yugoslavia, and that happened in Hungary. Why Hungary ? æCause its in the half way of ex Yugoslavia, so people from all countries will have similar difficulties in getting there. In few places you could read how it looked like, and since we saw that things like that are very meaningful, we decided to restart organizing of a new meeting of that sort. This time it is going to happen in Pecs, in late August. If you are interested to learn more about this, get in touch. Structure of organization of summit is imagined to be similar with the last one, and that means it will stay maximally open for itÆs successors, let them create it as they please. However, its very important that all of us have a clear vision what do we want, and what to expect. Anyway, it would be ideal if all who are interested, or at least all the people which are going to meeting would participate in creating it, but since we are not all on the e-mail, its an impossible. But thereÆll be a letter for those who are not on the e-mail, so all the people will be informed on the time. On 7.th and 8.th of mart, in Belgrade, was held up a gathering of anarcho-punx, and people who are filing close to the anarchist idea. Respond was very good, but interest for the polemics and following of the summit was fluctuated. First day people talked about human relations, which brings us in the situation of covered or opened conflict with purpose to have foundations for further work. Mainly it all reduced to gossip and unfounded arguments, and nothing was concluded by that question. There were also few other things people talked about, and after two hours the end came. Tomorrow the day past mush more constructive, and some plans for the future came up. The most important thing is that summit was hold and that people started to think about concrete things i problems which are ahead of us. In next few months we plane another meeting, and by then the time will show. In next few issues ôKontrapunktö (kontra@eunet.yu) planes to unite texts of different authors, which will become study associates. Soon there should be a political newsletter, which should, hopefully, be regular in the future. In any case, we need associates. Get in touch ! Davor KonjikuÜi}, Goce Del~eva 11/13, 11080 Zemun, Yugoslavia ; e-mail : davork@sezam.co.yu torpedo informator, number 29 ... 10.1.1998. (translated and published unchanged!) Till today Revolutionary group Torpedo was after four years of active work give great revolutionary movement in SR Yugoslavia, just like on the rest of former Yugoslavia. They published 29 numbers of ô Torpedo informatorö, 19 numbers ôTorpedo û News Flashö ( informator on English ), co-operated in few libertarian magazines, published few circular letters, done enough different leaflets and 13 brochures. From today Revolutionary group Torpedo officially stop with existing, and with any other further work. Reasons for quitting need to search in personal weaknesses, like in a number of mistakes in organized approach. Behind us, accept published material, there is a lot of translated material which is waiting for publishing. That material weÆll pass to active comrades. From today addresses of Torpedo are no longer existing. Long live the revolution ! Ex-yu-a-lista With help of zamir-zg new discussion and informative e-mail list was started. It functions in a way which massage sends to termed e-mail address is passed to all subscribers of the list. In that way there could be exchanged thoughts and send news to bigger number of interesents, and in the same it is ensured that discussion will be in public. The name of that new list is ex-yu-a- list, and its described as ex-yugoslavian anarcho list, and that means that it gathers around 60 individuals from territory of ex Yugoslavia, interested in field of anarchism. ItsÆ point is to ensure the space for discussion about anarchism on this territories. Fast and secured ways of e-mail are able to exchange more data on a cheap and efficient way. If you are interested in more info, get in touch with e-mail to marko.vukovic@zamir-zg.znt.apc.org and he will send you more detail descriptions. The second number of newsletter OVER THE WALL OF NATIONALISM AND WAR was delayed on some time because of classical reasons, but it is finally out with a 9# of Comunitas. Also, the start of new 1998. will be remembered by a tour of UnutraÜnji bunt (yu), and Radikalna promjena (cro) - 2 punk bands from Croatia and Serbia. The tour was also under the title Over the walls of nationalism and war. The place of touring was, by logic, Slovenia, and it all last for 9 days. On the eight gigs there werenÆt any unpleasant scenes, but on gig in Ormo`, some people from Zagreb were acting very stupid and irresponsible to the hosts from Ormo` ( they were stupid chaos-punx o.p.everybody). Financialy the whole story went excellent, the lost was only 80 DM. There will probably be released benefit split-live tape with cause of covering this expenses, and maybe it will all be crowned with split vinyl of these two bands. Details from the tour you can find in several zines like ôIn medias resö, ôPrilagodba stavaö(cro).... And further we expect to be released a new compilation 7ö, a work of punk bands Bad justice (Po`ega,Croatia), and Totalni promaÜaj (Kraljevo,Yugoslavia), with the same name as a newsletter / 7ö / tours released by label Humanita nova. PROTEST 20.2. has been cheerful on the streets of Zagreb. The groups of trade unions fixed in advance a protest on main city square, it should be against social policy of Croatian government. Some of smaller political parties joined. But the biggest trade union and all the bigger parties were refuse to participate in organizing it. Assembly of city of Zagreb forbid that gathering û they called the decision about public safety which is on yet from the war, and it goes that public gatherings are permitted only on few places on the outskirts of town, and that means far away from the eyes and ears of the people/passengers. But until now there, on that square was few pre-election meetings and even few concerts, but never mind. Anyway, many people believe that that decision is in direct contradiction with constitution in which is guaranteed right to public gatherings. The city is, with help of the police, decided to reinforce that decision, they must not let the people to get to the main square û trade unions said that they WILL have meeting on the square. For two days police from whole Croatia gathered in the Zagreb, and half an hour before the real meeting they blocked all ways to main square, somewhere about 14:30 that day. They said that they will do that but they also guaranteed not to use any force. Colons of workers went from 4 or 5 places in town, they were supposed to meet with others in agreed time. When the people came to police cordons, colons were stacked. There were lot of pushing, and trying to break the cordons to get to the square. The mass was estimated to 20 or 40 thousands, but it was really hard to count. There were many revolutionaries û tourists ( people eating ice-cream, drink juice, and cheering) which turned o.k. at the end because great part of them carried by the atmosphere, ice-creams were thrown on the pigs. There were flying eggs and stuff against the cop cordons. Cops were trying to kick few people but solidarity amongst the people were pretty strong, so that was stopped ! It seamed that those days was present great revolt to the government, and that there is a level of solidarity between the people which was pretty forgotten by these times. This was the only revolution in which the state was in position to make the barricades, the cops was behind the real barricades + cordons. That was pretty odd, because police were charging to the barricades, and people were defending, until now that is. SomethingÆs wrong, ha !?! It all ended after 5 hours of pushing, and yelling when tired people went to one other square and there held one smaller meeting, just for fun. That part isnÆt so interesting û there wasnÆt any trouble, hehe. During the breaking of condors there were a little group of punx who tried to act like the core of riot. The most of them were skinhunters, but there were also some of skins. That day the truce was fold, apparently. DidnÆt last for very long, ha ? There were some BBB (bad blue boys) û fans of ôcroatiaö football club ( ex dinamo ). Dinamo was also one of the most important slogans during the protest, because most of the people donÆt want that the name of football club be Croatia, then they want dinamo, itÆs a symbol of resistant to president and government, although in great part is only non argumental showing off in a football fan style. All skins are bbb, although big part of bbb arenÆt fascists. Trade unions announced a lot of new protest around the whole Croatia. WeÆll see ! DAY AGAINST POLICE BRUTALITY, 15.3. Second year in a role of actions organized by COBP ( Citizens Against Police Brutality û Le COBP ) from Montreal, was stopped by the side of brutal ones. Last year was prevented performance of Schmrtz Theatre, and same happened this year. But same as last year there were time for deal a few leaflets before the boys in blue manage to organize. This year the action was imagined as marking the places on which were police cordons during the trade union protest, and it should be marked with blue paint, of course. But organs of persecution wisely asked : ô did your mother teach you to paint lines on the road ?ö and arrested two persons from art group ô bijesne gliste ô ( mad earth-worm) which co-ordinated with the action. News reporter from ônovi listö they took by force his camera, and the photos with the massage that laws arenÆt same for them and for us. You may say thatÆs brutal, but they were provocated, werenÆt they ?! We just hope that in the police report wont be anything connected with harassment of our friends, because they were only kissing the radiators. At the end we can conclude that they stopped us for filling our action but not completely because we always manage to deal our leaflets, nanananananaaaa. The last news says that the spokesman of police said that their man (police officer) made mistake because of the pressure from the recent trade union protest. AUTONOMOUS CULTURAL FACTORY (www.arkzin.com) In Zagreb was recently founded ATTACK (AuTonomna TvorniCA Kulture), autonomous cultural factory. It is an continuation of idea ôalternative needs spaceö and until now things are going on much more serious and it started with itsÆ realization. Attack is a space open on a daily basis from 12 to 22 and serves as meeting space and energy cultivation point. Until now there have happened many actions ( FAKI û festival of alternative theatre utterance, reclaim the streets, many expositions and many other events ), and after few months attack has found his place in Heinzelova 33, but it lost that space after 20 shitheads barged in and make some trouble which resulted with angry boss breaking the contract ordering attack to move out by 31.6.1998. Before, during, and after the opening ceremony (7.3.) atmosphere was workly, stormy, cheerful and sometimes fucked up. The idea of attack is new to many people and therefore it is hard to adapt it in practice. Well you can guess how is it to run a self managed center which obeys laws and whose group is made of mainly young unexperienced activists. ThatÆs why happenings in attack are going little bit slower than we expected. For now in attack you can drink real Turkish coffee, or juice, and slowly there are opening of cyber-cafe, and info shop of alternative (anarchism, antimilitarism, ecology...) contents. Attack became place where people came express themselves or just hang out. Right now people of Attack are trying a new place to rent. E-mail is: attack_ZG@zamir-zg.ztn.apc.org Critical mass (http://www.zamir.net/dadi/kmas) After few attempts in æ80ies, 14.3.Æ98. was held another critical mass, first in these decade. ItÆs a cheerful and peaceful bunch who is trying to crawl the streets with bicycles, skates, rollers or any other kind of ecological transport means, you can even run, but then you better be in shape. Well this is what happened that afternoon. At noon, in front of ex mosque, now museum, on the ex square of victims of fascism, 35-40 of us bikers gathered, and soon (after half an hour) we were ready to move. We made few rounds for warming up and then we start to move/block the streets. After cca half an hour we made a small break, after that we returned to the mosque, and make another round around it. All together great event. We ignored red lights for five or six times, but only when it was 100% safe for all bikers, i say bikers because only roller who came with us couldnÆt keep the rhythm, ...for what we are really sorry ! This time we werenÆt interesting to cops, they just turned their heads on the other side. But some of drivers were pretty pissed, so we got a lot of horning, but who gives a fuck !? Second critical mass 29. 3. Æ98. Second critical mass was all like the first one, we gathered in front of mosque, we wait for half an hour, then we block the streets for some while. But this time boys in blue were pissed of when one of them couldnÆt pass through us. When he finally did he ordered us to stop. This was saluted with laughter, so he got pissed. He tried to stop one person and block his way, but this biker simply turned the other way. This completely confused the officer. We moved further but he already called for support. Support came rather fast, and he was ( pig on motorcycle ) pretty angry so he tried to stop one guy by force. After few bad words, we were on the road again. But soon the car of emergency service should go through and people in the stack cars were to mad, again the police came but this time in a car, so everything ended with the chase. Cops didnÆt caught no one but they stopped the second critical mass. Although they really tried to catch us. They even drove through pedestrian zones in order to catch us. I guess they werenÆt ready for some civil disobedience so they reacted quite strongly. Well, tough luck, for them. The most interesting thing is that one of the bikers was a really young boy, a four or five year old, but he and his mother turned one crossroad before the police chase. Third critical mass This time to critical mass came only few people ( about 15 ), so they drove around the town for hour or two, nothing exciting happened, even people didnÆt horned to much, maybe because bikers blocked only one track. They made a longer round then two times before, but it ended without any problems. Fourth critical mass This critical mass didnÆt happened, because nazi shitheads came and attack the bikers, after we saw them coming we had few minutes to escape, but few people didnÆt handle, so one guy was hardly beaten, but most of us was able to escape. There were 20 or 30 of them, and only 15 or 20 bikers, mostly women. Although they throw rocks and bottles, no one got hit. They arenÆt really good shooters, you know, but they hit a tram, and it is only 15 meters long. After that a merely bunch of 15 skinheads came to attack, while it wasnÆt open yet. There were only two guys inside it. When they came they shout like: where are queers, where are punx. They also searched for communists ( who may that be ? ) and serbs ( !?!), because they saw few punx with red stars on their jackets ( which off course is an serb/communist symbol ), and they are all real croats!? Although attack isnÆt punk club, but place when all people can be creative there is a rumor that skinheads are founding an antitank ( ! ) club for the right wing shatters. CanÆt wait to see it. Anyway, they beat up two guys who put the stage for FAKI û theatre festival - , the interesting thing is that they thought those two were punks, and while they were put the stage they listened ôrachmaninovö, or some other classic music. But they didnÆt make lot of damage, they were probably surprised that ôpunk headquartersö looks like a fuckinÆ show-room. FAKI û the festival of alternative theatre The low budget scene theatre scene in Zagreb exploded few weeks ago. The FAKI û festival of alternative theatre took over the streets with the numerous street happenings, and with the evening line up of shows in ATTACK. Line up from day one, 27.4. was : teater Gromki, tractal fans theatar, and Kugla. Second day, 28.4. : bez ambala`e, teatar xxx, La via en rose, ^ez cesto. 29.4. : teatar xxx, crna kronika, beldevere, U.B.I., 30.4. : teater xxx, bijesne gliste, META, le cheval. Day 5. : radionica dramskog stvaralaÜtva SC, schmrtz teatar, gole i veseli fetus, theatre de femmes, bruvno. And day 6. : Üipak, D.I.Z.E.L., not your bitch. It was a week of many good performances through all over the town. It was something which had to happen because there is a lot of low budget theatres, but no place to express them selves. Streets of Zagreb were full of performances for a week, and many of them were very political. Like the one of Schmrtz theatre when 22 people got into the biggest book store and took 22 books. When they were stopped at the exit they argued against such high prices of knowledge! (our state charges 22% tax for books!).. Hopefully, in the future will be more of such events. Reclaim the streets 16.5. The happening started in 11.30 in the center of town, with performance of ôbez ambala`eö art group, at 12:00 second group U.B.I. (united Balkan incorporated), had their performance, at 12:30 another performance happened in front of Croatian national theatre, it was performed by La via en rose, at the same place Radionica SC held their performance, after that group META had their performance at importanne fountain. After that people moved to square of French revolution for a dance, flee market and more happenings. It lasted till 22:00, it was nice, a little bit drunk atmosphere with lot of fun and dance. Maybe it wasnÆt extreme like in other parts of Globe, but we sure showed some potential. Till next year!!! Protest against thermo- electric power plant in Lukovo èugarje 22.4. On the day of the planet Earth the ecology organization Zelena Akcija ( green action ) held a protest against building a thermo û electric power plant in one of the most beautiful places on the Adriatic sea, in Lukovo èugarje. Though with the lesson old for few years, when the last TE power plant was build at the coast of Adriatic sea, and when many sea species extinct population started to feel seek and nausea, people from the area of L.è. refused to let them built that power plant. During the campaign, Zelena akcija collected 12000 signatures against that built. One of the parts of campaign was to protest in front of hotel intercontinental where was held a meeting of foreign investors and local firms and ô representatives ôof the areas. There were about 30 people, we met near by hotel intercontinental from where we went to main entrance of the hotel. By the time we came to the hotel, the meeting was already over which was our plan. All 30 of us put some safety masks and some of the people had banners ô we donÆt want power plant on coal ô, some of us should laid on the floor but because of the rain it didnÆt happen. All together it lasted for half an hour, we stood in front of hotel, while some people gave few statements for press, TV, and radios. It all went pretty o.k. , but maybe with few more people it would be better. The building of power plant on coal in Lukovo èugarje is very popular theme right now, and few days ago the whole show on local TV was about that power plant. In the show people mainly argued because it is a great deal of money for firm who will own a power plant, and it is a lost of health for people who live in that area, not to mention destruction of local woods and sea cost. But during the show viewers could vote pro or con to power plant, and the result was : about 14 000 con, and about 1000 pro. Until now, the money was the only measure for building something, but from now i believe that people will have some rights to decide, too. But in this case, of Lukovo Üugarje, because of big deal of money IÆm not sure that greedy investors will accept to build a power plant on gas. And already in some other parts of croatia people bought the story of new jobs and more electricity, so stupidity of people will again be one way ticket for everyoneÆ health hazard. Day of the planet Earth Accept of anti power plant protest at hotel intercontinental, amnesty international organized an petition for releasing an ecological prisoners. It was organized on one town square in the center of town. At the same square some people made the three of promises, on which everybody should write his/her promise for the future. At the end it turned to be a three of wishes, not promises, but most of the wishes are more or less too much for individual, but it proves that people are yet not ready to act, but they are expecting others to do everything while they are sleeping. We just hope that with time we could organize something bigger for the day of planet Earth, who knows, maybe even next year. Or is this another wish for the three of wishes. The square of victims of fascism For seven years now, there are protests on the ex square of victims of fascism, but year after a year there are no signs that this square will get itsÆ old name back. This year the protest was organized by action of social democrats, and lot of people came, mostly veterans of W.W.II, partisans and lot of us younger antifascists. IÆm afraid that there were only five people from different areas of underground, and that pisses me because many people claim to be antifascists, and when action is needed theyÆre not there. Anyway, what is interesting is that this year, like the last one, came about 20 ustaÜa, rightwing idiots, who shout something like ôgo to serbiaö, ôvukovarö, ôcroatiaö... no comment is needed. The whole protest would be funny, but o.k. that one of those fascists didnÆt hit one of the spokesmen. Interesting is that police only removed that guy and calmed him down, not the guy who was hit. But what is really funny is that on national television the whole report was about those fascists who came to wreck the protest. They even give some statements, and about protest they told only few words from which you could conclude that few enemies of the state, probably communists and lunatics wanted the old name back because they hate croatia. But it is still o.k., because few months ago there was a festivity on the monument for victims of the concentration camp of ustashian fascist regime (Jasenovac), on which some members of parliament came ( probably to look like the government cares, although we know...), and then when some people from serb/jewish/antifascist movements asked why is the monument in such terrible condition, they made this whole statement in which they talked about the war and about how the monument was under serbian occupation during it. War stopped several years ago, and in all that time they are still talking shit about serbian aggression instead of giving some real answers. So, national(istic) TV again showed it like something which serbs done, this time neglect of the monument, but i donÆt get it, cause most of the victims in that camp were serbian children, women, men, older people...but we have to expect this kind of things, because to prove how croats didnÆt commit any war crimes in wwII some people already think off story in which the bodies founded in that camp wasnÆt victims of ustaÜa but innocent Croatian soldiers brutally slaughtered by bloodthirsty antifascists after the war ended. Probably that is way they remove the name of the square. Because they werenÆt any of fascistsÆ victims !? Anti nuclear protest at Indian embassy Not so many people showed up and participated in building a paper mushroom. Then they gave a note to the embassy and were forced to move by the cops. A lot of media attention was gained though. pseudoastronaut klase C ## CrossPoint v3.02 ##
